Falcão's Futsal Journey
Falcão started playing futsal at a young age. He joined the Guarapira futsal club when he was 13. In 1993, he moved to Corinthians and became a professional player. He played for their senior team starting in 1994.
After leaving Corinthians, Falcão played for several different teams. In 2003, he joined Jaraguá, where he played for many years. He also had a short time playing regular 11-a-side football for São Paulo Futebol Clube in 2005. He even played in the 2005 Copa Libertadores, a big football tournament. But he soon returned to futsal, his main sport.
International Success
Falcão played for the Brazil national futsal team from 1998 to 2018. He scored an incredible 401 goals in 258 games for his country. He helped Brazil win the FIFA Futsal World Cup twice, in 2008 and 2012. These wins were Brazil's 4th and 5th titles in the tournament.
At the 2004 and 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cups, FIFA recognized him as the Best Player of the tournaments. Falcão retired from the national team in 2016. This was after Brazil was knocked out of the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup. Even though Brazil left early, Falcão scored 10 goals in that tournament. This made him the all-time top goalscorer in FIFA Futsal World Cup history, with 48 goals.
Many football experts and players believe Falcão is the greatest futsal player ever. He also played in two of the most-watched futsal matches in history.
