Fall Creek, Texas facts for kids
Fall Creek is a special kind of neighborhood called a master-planned community. It's located in Harris County, Texas, in the United States. This community is huge, about 1,300 acres! It's super close to George Bush Intercontinental Airport (only 3 miles away) and not too far from Downtown Houston (about 15 miles). Two companies, Johnson Development and Jefferson Development, helped build Fall Creek.
History of Fall Creek
Homes in Fall Creek first went on sale in late 2001. Before Fall Creek was built, this land was home to the El Dorado Country Club.
A big road project was finished on February 26, 2011. This project completed the main lanes of Beltway 8 between U.S. Highway 59 and U.S. Highway 90. This made it easier to travel around the area.
Location and Features
Fall Creek is a large community, covering about 1,260 acres. It sits on the north side of Beltway 8. This location is very convenient! It's only 3 miles from George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston. It's also about 15 miles from Downtown Houston. Johnson Development and Jefferson Development are the companies that built this community.
In 2004, a writer named Ralph Bivins said Fall Creek had a very short commute to downtown. This was compared to other new master-planned communities. The builders thought it would take only eight minutes to get to Bush Airport from Fall Creek.
Steve Pierce, a manager for Fall Creek, said it was the closest master-planned community to downtown. This was a big selling point for the area. Fall Creek is also very close to U.S. Route 59. Larry Johnson, from Johnson Development, called U.S. 59 "probably the best freeway in town."
The developers looked for land near major freeways. This way, people living in Fall Creek could get to work quickly. Pierce also mentioned that Fall Creek was not likely to flood.
The plans for Fall Creek included many things. There would be about 1,500 apartment units. A hotel and conference center were also planned. Office buildings, schools, and shopping centers were part of the design. Redstone Golf Properties was going to build two golf courses. Fall Creek was also described as having many oak and pine trees.
Education in Fall Creek
Students living in Fall Creek attend schools in the Humble Independent School District.
Kids in Fall Creek are zoned to specific schools:

- Woodcreek Middle School
- Summer Creek High School
Before Fall Creek Elementary opened, students went to Summerwood Elementary School. Originally, the community was served by Humble High School. Later, when Atascocita High School opened in 2006, students from Fall Creek went there. Finally, when Summer Creek High School opened, it became the high school for Fall Creek.
