Early Life and Career Beginnings

Fania Marinoff was born in Odessa, Russia, on March 20, 1890. She was the thirteenth child in her family.

When she was about six years old, Fania traveled to America. She arrived in Boston, where she began a new life.

At age nine, Fania made her first appearance on stage. She played a young boy in the play Cyrano de Bergerac. This was the start of her acting career, which lasted for 50 years!

Marriage and Influence

In 1914, Marinoff married Carl Van Vechten, an American writer and photographer. They met in New York City in 1912 and quickly became close friends.

Fania Marinoff passed away in 1971 in Englewood, New Jersey. She was 81 years old.
