Fannin is a small, unincorporated community located in eastern Goliad County, Texas, United States. History of Fannin
Fannin is named after a very important person in Texas history: James Fannin. He was a brave commander during the Texas Revolution. This was a time when Texans fought for their independence from Mexico.
The Goliad Massacre
Sadly, James Fannin and his group of Texans faced a tragic event known as the Goliad Massacre. In March 1836, Fannin's troops were captured by the Mexican army. Despite surrendering, most of them, including Fannin, were executed. This event became a rallying cry for Texans fighting for their freedom.
