Fanny Lucía Martínez Buenaventura (born February 8, 1973), known as Fanny Lu, is a famous singer, songwriter, and actress from Santiago de Cali, Colombia. She is known for her Latin pop and Tropipop music. Fanny Lu has released several popular albums and singles. She is also a Goodwill Ambassador for the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Early Life and Education
Fanny Lu was born in Santiago de Cali, Colombia. She went to Colegio Bolivar and then studied in France. After returning to Latin America, she attended the University of the Andes. There, she earned a degree in industrial engineering. She is a mother of two children.
Starting in Entertainment
Fanny Lu's first job in entertainment was hosting a music show called Siempre Música in Colombia. Later, she worked as a radio voice for major stations. She became more widely known in 1998. This was when she appeared in the Colombian TV show Perro Amor.
Fanny Lu's Acting Career
Fanny Lu started her TV career in 1994 as a presenter on the show Locomotora. She has acted in several television series. These include Perro Amor and Más Vale Tarde. She also lent her voice to the character Beth in the Spanish version of the Sony Pictures animated movie, Open Season. In 2012, she was a judge on the reality show Pequeños Gigantes.

Fanny Lu's Music Career
First Albums and Hit Songs
Fanny Lu released her first album, Lágrimas Cálidas, in 2006. This album was very successful, staying at No. 1 for five weeks. Her first single from the album, "No Te Pido Flores", was also a huge hit. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts in several Latin American countries. In the U.S., it topped the Billboard Tropical Songs chart. Her second single, "Y Si Te Digo", also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart.
Her second album, Dos, was released in 2008. It quickly became No. 1 in Colombia. The lead single, "Tú No Eres Para Mi", was the most played song on the radio for 12 weeks. This song also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks in April 2009.
Later Music and Special Projects
In 2010, Fanny Lu was chosen to sing the Spanish version of "Something That I Want". This was the theme song for the Disney movie Tangled. She later released her third album, Felicidad y Perpetua, in November 2011. The first single from this album was "Fanfarrón", followed by "Ni Loca".

Awards and Recognition
Fanny Lu has received many awards and nominations for her music. She was nominated for two Lo Nuestro Awards in 2008. These nominations included Female Artist of the Year in the Tropical music category. She was nominated again in 2009 for Female Artist of the Year.
In 2008, Lu received six Latin Billboard Music Award nominations. She won the award for Tropical Airplay New Artist Song of the Year for her song "Y Si Te Digo". On October 16, 2009, Fanny Lu was named a Goodwill Ambassador for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. This recognized her humanitarian work.
