Fanny Lucía Martínez Buenaventura (born February 8, 1973), known to everyone as Fanny Lu, is a famous singer, songwriter, and actress from Santiago de Cali, Colombia. She's known for her amazing voice and catchy songs. Before becoming a star, she even studied industrial engineering at the University of the Andes! Fanny Lu is also a mom to two children, Mateo and Valentina.
Fanny Lu started her journey in entertainment as a host for a music magazine called Siempre Música. She then worked as a radio voice for big radio stations in Colombia. People really started to notice her in 1998 when she acted in the Colombian TV show Perro Amor.
In 2006, Fanny Lu released her first album, Lágrimas Cálidas. This album made her famous in Colombia and other Latin American countries. Her 2008 album Dos made her even more popular. Her song "Tú No Eres Para Mi" became number one in many places. She released her third album, Felicidad y Perpetua, in 2011. Fanny Lu also does a lot of good work helping people. Because of this, she was named a "Goodwill Ambassador" for the FAO, which is part of the United Nations.

Fanny Lu was born in Santiago de Cali, Colombia. Her parents are Colombian. She went to Colegio Bolivar for school. Then, she moved to France to finish her early education. After that, she came back to Latin America. She studied at the University of the Andes. There, she earned a degree in industrial engineering. She is a mother of two children.
Fanny Lu's Acting Career
In 1994, Fanny Lu became a TV presenter on a popular show called Locomotora. After that, she started working in the music world. She has been in many TV shows, like Perro Amor and Más Vale Tarde. She also lent her voice to the character Beth in the Spanish version of the Sony Pictures animated movie, Open Season (Amigos Salvajes). In 2012, she was a judge on the second season of the reality show Pequeños Gigantes.
Fanny Lu's Music Journey
Fanny Lu's first album, Lágrimas Cálidas, came out in 2006. This album was a huge hit, staying at number one for five weeks! Her first song from the album, "No Te Pido Flores", was also number one for seven weeks. It topped the charts in Latin America, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, and Mexico. In the U.S., it reached No. 16 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. It also hit No. 1 on the Billboard Tropical Songs chart. The second song from her first album, "Y Si Te Digo", also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart.
Her second album, Dos, was number one in Colombia in its first week. It was released in the United States and Puerto Rico a week later. The main song from this album, "Tú No Eres Para Mi", was the most played song on the radio for 12 weeks! This song also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks in April 2009. On October 16, 2009, Fanny Lu was named a Goodwill Ambassador for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. This shows her dedication to helping others.
In 2010, Disney chose Fanny Lu to sing the Spanish version of the theme song for the movie Tangled. The song was called "Something That I Want" in English, and "Algo Quiero" in Spanish.
She then released "Fanfarrón", which was the first song from her third album, Felicidad y Perpetua. The second song from that album was "Ni Loca".
