Fargo is a small, quiet place in Orange County, Indiana. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and buildings that isn't officially a town or city. It doesn't have its own local government like a mayor or town council. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Greenfield Township.
History
Fargo has an interesting past. It was once known by a different name: Pittsburgh. People believe this earlier name might have come from a local family called Pitman.
A post office was opened in Fargo in 1888. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1928.
