The Story of Farmer
Farmer got its name because many of the first people who settled there were farmers. A post office opened in Farmer in 1890. It served the community for a long time, closing in 1992. The town officially became a town in 1920.
One special place in Farmer is Saint Peter's Grotto. It's a unique religious site built by Father Peter N. Scheier. He worked on it from 1926 to 1933. In 2001, the grotto was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's an important historical site.
