A Look Back: Farmington's History
Farmington has an interesting past! It wasn't always called Farmington. When it was first created in 1836, its name was Marcellus.
Later, in 1846, a special office for sending and receiving mail, called a post office, was opened there. At that time, the name of the community officially changed to Farmington. The post office helped people send letters and packages for about 12 years. It closed down in 1858.
