Fathia Absie is a Somali-American writer, producer, actress, and filmmaker. She creates both real-life stories (documentaries) and made-up stories (fictional films). Fathia also wrote a graphic novel called The Imperceptible Peace Maker.
Fathia is a co-founder of Eat With Muslims. This project helps Muslims and non-Muslims meet and share meals. It aims to build friendships and understanding between people from different backgrounds.

About Fathia Absie's Career
Fathia Absie moved to Minnesota around 2010. Before becoming a filmmaker, she worked as a social worker. She worked for several organizations, including the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and Voice of America.
In 2013, Fathia joined ECHO. This group in Minnesota helps people who have moved to the United States from other countries.
Her First Documentary Film
In 2011, Fathia Absie released her first documentary film. It was called Broken Dreams. This film looked at a serious issue in the Somali community in Minnesota. It explored how some young Somali people were being recruited by harmful groups. This situation brought a lot of attention to the Somali community. Fathia's film helped people understand the challenges faced by the community.
Writing a Graphic Novel
In 2014, Fathia Absie published her graphic novel. It is titled The Imperceptible Peacemaker. A graphic novel is like a comic book but often longer and more complex.
The story is about a superhero who fights for good. This hero is a tech billionaire who creates a special suit. The suit allows him to become invisible. He uses this power to fight unfairness and injustice around the world.
Making Fictional Films
Fathia Absie also creates fictional movies. In 2015, she released her second film, The Lobby. She wrote, directed, and starred in this movie. It was shown for the first time at the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Film Festival. The Lobby tells a made-up story about a relationship between a white man and a Somali-American woman.
In 2016, Fathia acted in the film A Stray. She played the mother of the main character, Barkhad Abdirahman. Later, in 2017, she worked with Barkhad Abdirahman again in the film First Person Plural. In this movie, she played a lively mother character.
Fathia also worked with Twin Cities PBS. She hosted many programs there. She also hosted a documentary called Giving Thanks!.
