Favarger has a long and interesting history, going back almost 200 years. It is one of the oldest chocolate makers in Switzerland.

How It All Began

In 1826, a skilled candy maker named Jacques Foulquier moved to Geneva. He decided to start his own chocolate company. Later, one of his daughters married Jean-Samuel Favarger. Jean-Samuel then took over the company from his father-in-law. This is how the Favarger name became part of the company.

Moving to a New Home

In 1878, the company needed more space. It moved from Geneva to Versoix, a small town nearby. The old chocolate factory in Geneva is now a famous building called the Bâtiment des Forces motrices.

A Special Chocolate Creation

In 1922, Favarger created one of its most popular chocolates. It is called Avalines. These unique chocolate bricks mix both milk and dark chocolate. They also contain tasty praline, crunchy almonds, and real vanilla from Madagascar.

New Ownership and Growth

The Favarger family owned the company for a very long time. But in 2003, Luka Rajic bought most of the company's shares. His goal was to combine Favarger's traditional chocolate-making skills with his own business ideas. He wanted to help the brand grow even more, both in Switzerland and around the world.

Working with Other Companies

Favarger also worked with another chocolate company called Goldkenn. This partnership lasted from 1980 until 1995.
