Favarger is a famous Swiss chocolate company. It was started by Jacques Foulquier in 1826 in Geneva, Switzerland. Today, the company is located in Versoix, which is also in Switzerland.
The Sweet Story of Favarger
In 1826, a man named Jacques Foulquier started this chocolate company. He was a confectioner, someone who makes sweets. He opened his business in Geneva. Later, his daughter married Jean-Samuel Favarger. Jean-Samuel then took over the company. That's how the name "Favarger" came to be!
In 1878, the company moved its factory. They went from Geneva to Versoix. Versoix is a smaller town nearby. The old factory building in Geneva is now a place called the Bâtiment des Forces motrices.
In 1922, Favarger created a very special chocolate. It's called Avelines. These chocolates are shaped like bricks. They mix milk chocolate and dark chocolate. They also have a creamy hazelnut paste called praline. Plus, they add crunchy almonds and vanilla from Madagascar.
The Favarger family owned the company for a very long time. But in 2003, a person named Luka Rajic bought most of the company's shares. His goal was to combine Favarger's old chocolate-making skills. He also wanted to use his own business ideas. This helped the brand grow in Switzerland and around the world.
Favarger also worked with another chocolate company called Goldkenn. They worked together from 1980 until 1995.
