Goldkenn is a famous Swiss company that makes delicious chocolate. They are based in a town called Le Locle. Goldkenn started way back in 1980 in Geneva. Two people, Steven Goldstein and Christian Belce-Kennedy, created the company. They even combined parts of their names to make "Goldkenn"! At first, they sold chocolates in cool, old-fashioned wooden boxes. You could find these in special shops called "duty-free stores," often at airports.

Goldkenn's Unique Chocolates

Goldkenn is known for its special kinds of chocolates. They make chocolate bars and small chocolates called "pralines" that sometimes have liquid centers or other tasty fillings. What makes Goldkenn chocolates really stand out is their packaging. Many of their pralines look exactly like small gold bars, called "gold bullion replicas"! They also make fun milk chocolate coins that look like gold. In the 1990s, tiny Goldkenn chocolate bars, shaped like gold ingots, were even served on Swissair flights.

Company Changes

Since 2010, Goldkenn has been part of a bigger group called Choco-Diffusion. In 2011, the company moved its main office from Geneva to Le Locle.

Goldkenn and Swiss Gold

In 2014, there was a big public discussion in Switzerland about gold. It was called the "Save our Swiss Gold" initiative. This initiative wanted the Swiss National Bank (which is like Switzerland's main bank) to keep a certain amount of gold. Supporters of this idea held a press conference. To show their point, they displayed a big pile of Goldkenn chocolate bars that looked like gold!

If you look closely at the Goldkenn logo, you will see a famous mountain on it. The logo features the Matterhorn, one of the most well-known mountains in the Swiss Alps.
