History of Faywood

The area where Faywood is located was once famous for its hot springs. People started visiting these natural hot springs in 1859. That year, a hotel and a bath house were built by a man named William Watts.

By the year 1900, the settlement of Faywood was officially created. It was named after the people who helped develop the Faywood Hot Springs. These developers were J.C. Fay and William Lockwood. Another developer involved was T.C. McDermott. Even though the main post office later moved northeast to Dwyer, it is still called the Faywood Post Office.
