Felicia Pearson (born May 18, 1980) is an American actress, rapper, and author. She is best known for playing a character named "Snoop" on the TV show The Wire. She also wrote a book in 2007 called Grace After Midnight, which shares stories from her early life.

Early Life and Challenges

Felicia Pearson was born on May 18, 1980, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born very early and was quite small, needing special care as a baby. She later took on her foster family's last name.

When she was fourteen, Felicia faced legal trouble and was sent to a correctional facility in Jessup, Maryland. While there, she worked hard and earned her GED certificate, which is like a high school diploma. She was released after six and a half years.

During her younger years, a friend gave her the nickname "Snoop." This was because she reminded him of Charlie Brown's playful beagle, Snoopy, from the comic strip Peanuts. After leaving the facility, Felicia tried to find work. She got a job making car bumpers, but it was hard for her to keep it because of her past.

Career Highlights

Starting in Television

Felicia Pearson's acting career began in an interesting way. She met Michael K. Williams, an actor who played the character Omar Little on The Wire, at a club in Baltimore. He invited her to visit the set of the show. After meeting the writers and producers and trying out for a role, she was offered a part in the series.

Her performance as "Snoop" on The Wire was very memorable. The famous author Stephen King even said she played "perhaps the most terrifying female villain to ever appear in a television series." This role helped her start a successful acting journey.

Other Acting Roles

After The Wire, Felicia appeared in many music videos for artists like Lil' Mo, Rick Ross, Ace Hood, A$AP Ferg, and Snoop Dogg. She also acted in movies directed by Spike Lee, including Da Sweet Blood of Jesus and Chi-Raq. On television, she appeared in the CBS police show Blue Bloods.

Later, Felicia joined the cast of the VH1 reality television series Love & Hip Hop: New York for its seventh and eighth seasons, showing another side of her career.

Music and Community Work

Besides acting, Felicia has also been involved in music. She was featured in a song called "It's a Stick Up" with Tony Yayo and Mazaradi Fox. The music video for this song even included clips from The Wire.

Felicia also dedicates her time to helping others. She has visited correctional facilities to support people there. She also works on campaigns to prevent violence and promote reading among young people. She supports The Stay Strong Foundation, which helps communities.
