About Felicia Pearson
Her Early Life
Felicia Pearson was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She grew up in a foster home in East Baltimore. When she was born, she was very tiny, weighing only about 3 pounds (1.4 kg), and doctors weren't sure if she would survive. She was so small that she had to be fed with an eyedropper at first.
In her book, Grace After Midnight, she shared that she didn't see her biological parents very often. She chose to use her foster family's last name. From a young age, Felicia was a tomboy.
Turning Point and Education
Felicia's life changed when she was eighteen years old. A person who had looked out for her and sent her money while she was in a correctional facility was sadly killed. This person had given her the nickname "Snoop" because she reminded him of Snoopy, the beagle from the Peanuts comic strip.
While she was in the correctional facility, Felicia worked hard and earned her GED, which is like a high school diploma. After she was released in 2000, she found a job making car bumpers. However, she was let go after two weeks when her employer found out about her past.
Her Career Journey
Acting on Television
Felicia Pearson met Michael K. Williams, an actor who played a character named Omar Little on The Wire, in a club in Baltimore. He invited her to visit the set of the show and introduced her to the writers and producers. After trying out for a role, she was offered a part in the series. Her performance on The Wire was very impactful. The famous author Stephen King even called her "perhaps the most terrifying female villain to ever appear in a television series."
Her role on The Wire helped start her acting career. She appeared in music videos for artists like Lil' Mo, Rick Ross, Ace Hood, A$AP Ferg, and Snoop Dogg. She also acted in movies directed by Spike Lee, including Da Sweet Blood of Jesus and Chi-Raq. She also appeared in an episode of the TV show Blue Bloods.
Later, Felicia joined the cast of the reality TV show Love & Hip Hop: New York for its seventh and eighth seasons.
Music Projects
Felicia Pearson is featured in a song called "It's a Stick Up" with Tony Yayo and Mazaradi Fox. The music video for this song includes clips from The Wire.
Helping Others
Felicia also spends time helping her community. She has visited correctional facilities to talk with people there. She has also worked on campaigns to help young people avoid violence and improve their reading skills. She supports The Stay Strong Foundation, which helps others.
