Felicity Okpete Ovai, born in 1961, is an amazing engineer and a smart scholar from Degema, Rivers State in Nigeria. She is a member of the Rivers State People's Democratic Party, which is a big political group.

She made history by becoming the first woman to be the Rivers State Commissioner of Works. This means she was in charge of all the building projects, like roads, in Rivers State. She held this important job from 2003 to 2006.

Education Journey

Felicity Ovai went to Holy Rosary Secondary School in Port Harcourt for her high school education. This school is now called Holy Rosary College.

She then studied Agricultural Engineering at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology. She earned a special degree called a B.Tech there. Later, she continued her studies at the University of Port Harcourt, where she got a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Her Work and Achievements

Felicity Ovai has had many important jobs in Rivers State. She was the very first woman to serve as the Rivers State Commissioner of Works. This role is part of the Executive Council of Rivers State, which is like the main team that helps the governor run the state.

While she was Commissioner, she helped start many road building projects. One big project was the "Unity Road." This road connects different areas like Ogoni, Andoni, and Opobo–Nkoro. It was a huge project that cost a lot of money, about ₦11.8 billion.

In December 2006, Felicity Ovai was chosen by her political party, the People's Democratic Party, to try for a spot in the senatorial elections for Rivers West. This meant she could have become a senator, helping make laws for the whole country.

In February 2016, the Governor of Rivers State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, asked her to join the Rivers State Roads Maintenance and Rehabilitation Agency. This agency helps keep the roads in good condition.

Felicity Ovai is also a member of several important groups for engineers. These include the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and the Society of Agricultural Engineers. Being a member of these groups shows how skilled and respected she is in her field.
