Luis Felipe Machado de Oliveira (born August 4, 1970) is a talented Brazilian journalist, writer, and musician. He is known for his work in media, writing books, and playing guitar in the famous heavy metal band Viper.
Felipe Machado is currently the Communications Director for Worldfund. This is a non-profit group that works on educational projects. He has held important jobs at major Brazilian media companies. These include O Estado de S. Paulo, R7, and Diário de S.Paulo. As a writer, he has published novels, non-fiction books, and even an award-winning children's book.
In music, Machado started his journey in 1985. He was a guitarist and co-founder of the heavy metal band Viper. He has played on all of the band's albums and in their concerts. In 2016, he released his first solo album, FM Solo. On this album, he sang, wrote songs, and played guitar.

Felipe Machado's Media Career
Felipe Machado studied communications at Faculdade Cásper Líbero, graduating in 1993. Later, in 2009, he earned his master's degree in digital communication from the University of Navarra.
He began working in media in 1996. For two years, he was a writer at DPZ, an advertising agency. In 2000, he joined Jornal da Tarde, a newspaper. There, he worked as a reporter, columnist, and editor.
Working at Grupo Estado
Machado became the first multimedia editor for Grupo Estado. He also helped create TV Estadão. During this time, he directed two documentaries for O Estado de S. Paulo. One film, Mordaça no Estadao, explored censorship in Brazilian media during the 1970s. The other, Um Paraíso Perdido, followed the journey of writer Euclides da Cunha into the Amazon a century ago.
Later Roles in Journalism
In 2011, Machado moved to Diário de S. Paulo. He was in charge of digital media teams, business projects, and partnerships. After that, in 2013, he became the bureau chief for R7. In this role, he managed journalist teams in different Brazilian cities. These included São Paulo, Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, and Salvador.
As a freelance writer, Machado has written for many international and Brazilian publications. He is also the Editor-at-Large in Brazil for Fair Observer. This is a digital "Think Tank" website with writers and leaders from around the world.
He is currently the communications director for Worldfund, a non-profit organization focused on education. He also writes a blog called 'Palavra de Homem' (Man's Word).
Felipe Machado's Books
Machado has written several books. He has two novels: Olhos Cor de Chuva (Rain-Colored Eyes), published in 2002, and O Martelo dos Deuses (The Hammer of the Gods), from 2007.
He also wrote a children's book called Um Lugar Chamado Aqui (A Place Called Here) in 2016. This book won the Youngsters Book of Year Award.
In addition, he has two non-fiction books. One is Bacana Bacana: As Aventuras de um Jornalista na África (Bacana Bacana: The Adventures of a Journalist in South Africa), from 2010. The other is Ping Pong Chinês por Um Mês. As Aventuras de Um Jornalista Brasileiro Pela China Olímpica (Ping Pong: The Adventures of a Journalist in Olympic China), published in 2008. This last book was nominated for the Prêmio Jabuti, a very important Brazilian literary award.
Felipe Machado's Music Career
As a musician, Felipe Machado is a co-founder and lead guitar player for Viper. This band is one of Brazil's most important hard rock groups. In the 1990s, Viper toured worldwide and was very popular in Brazil. Their songs were often played on the radio and MTV.
Viper has opened concerts for famous bands like Black Sabbath, Metallica, Kiss, and Slayer. They also headlined the local Monsters of Rock festival in Brazil. The band has completed three international tours, playing live shows in Europe, Japan, and South America. They also recorded albums in Germany and the United States, and a live album in Japan. In 2013, Viper performed at the Rock in Rio Festival, one of the biggest music festivals in the world.

In 2015, Machado released his first solo album, FM Solo. He was the singer, songwriter, and guitar player on this album. It is available on all digital music platforms. The album features 8 original songs written by Machado. It also includes his versions of Speedway by Morrissey and Tourist by Athlete. The singles from the album were "Speedway" and "The Shelter."
