Felipe Miñambres Fernández (born on April 29, 1965) is a Spanish former professional football player. He played as an attacking midfielder. Today, he is the president of CD Tenerife, a football club.
Felipe played for 12 seasons in La Liga, which is Spain's top football league. He spent two years with Sporting de Gijón and ten years with Tenerife. In total, he played 348 games and scored 42 goals in La Liga. He also played for the Spanish national team in the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
After he stopped playing, Miñambres became a football manager in 1999. He managed several clubs, including Tenerife, Salamanca, Rayo Vallecano, and Levante. These teams played in the Segunda División, which is Spain's second-highest league.

Felipe Miñambres: A Football Journey
Early Career and Rise to Fame
Felipe Miñambres was born in Astorga, a town in Spain. He grew up in the youth system of Sporting de Gijón, which is known for training young players. This system is called Mareo.
He made his first team debut in the 1987–88 season. The next season, 1988–89, he became a key player. He scored nine goals in La Liga that season, which was his best scoring year.
Playing for CD Tenerife
In the 1989–90 season, Felipe joined CD Tenerife. He helped the club become a strong team in the top league. They even played in the UEFA Cup, an important European competition.
When Tenerife was moved down to a lower league in 1999, Felipe decided to retire. He was 34 years old. After retiring, he started a new career as a football manager.
Playing for Spain
Felipe Miñambres played six games for the Spanish national team. He scored two goals for his country. His first game was on December 13, 1989. It was a friendly match against Switzerland, which Spain won 2–1. Felipe scored the second goal in that game.
He was also part of Spain's team for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. He played in two matches during that tournament, against South Korea and Bolivia.
Life After Playing Football
Becoming a Manager
After retiring as a player, Felipe Miñambres began coaching. His first coaching job was with his former team, Tenerife, in 1999. He was one of four managers for the club during the 1999–2000 season in the Segunda División.
He then managed other teams like Hércules CF, UD Salamanca, Alicante CF, and UE Lleida. In the 2007–08 season, he became the director of football for Rayo Vallecano. This role means he helped manage the club's players and overall football strategy.
Return to Coaching and New Roles
On February 15, 2010, Rayo Vallecano was having a tough time. Felipe stepped in as coach, replacing the previous manager. He helped the team stay in their league. In June of that year, he went back to his role as director of football.
After leaving Rayo Vallecano in 2016, Felipe worked as a director of football for RC Celta de Vigo. On February 11, 2022, he moved to Levante UD in the same role. He also briefly coached the team for two matches in October 2022.
Felipe returned to coaching Levante on February 19, 2024, for the rest of the 2023–24 season. He went back to his director role in June 2024. He left Levante on February 26, 2025.
On June 3, 2025, Felipe Miñambres was named president of CD Tenerife. This was two months after he had returned to the club as a counselor.
