Felipe Miñambres Fernández was born on April 29, 1965. He is a Spanish former footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Today, he works as a director of football for Levante UD.

Felipe played for 12 seasons in La Liga, which is Spain's top football league. He played for Sporting de Gijón for two years and Tenerife for ten years. During his career, he played 348 games and scored 42 goals in La Liga. He also represented the Spanish national team at the 1994 FIFA World Cup.

After he stopped playing, Miñambres became a manager for several clubs starting in 1999. He managed teams like Tenerife, Salamanca, Rayo Vallecano, and Levante in the Segunda División, which is Spain's second-highest league.

Playing Career: A Midfielder's Journey

Felipe Miñambres was born in Astorga, a town in Spain. He started his football journey in the famous youth system of Sporting de Gijón, called Mareo. He made his first team debut in the 1987–88 season.

He quickly became a key player. In the next season, he scored nine goals in La Liga, which was his best scoring year.

Time at CD Tenerife

In 1989, Miñambres joined CD Tenerife. He was a very important part of the team as they became a strong club in the top league. He also helped them play in the UEFA Cup, which is a big European competition.

When Tenerife was relegated from the top league in 1999, Felipe decided to retire from playing football. He was 34 years old. After retiring, he began a new career as a football manager.

After ending his playing career, Felipe Miñambres started coaching. His first coaching job was with his former team, Tenerife, in 1999. He then went on to manage other clubs like Hércules CF, UD Salamanca, Alicante CF, and UE Lleida.

Working at Rayo Vallecano

In the 2007–08 season, Felipe became the director of football for Rayo Vallecano. This role means he helped manage the club's overall football operations, like signing players.

In February 2010, while Rayo Vallecano was in the second division, Miñambres took over as coach for a short time. He helped the team stay in their league. After that, he returned to his role as director of football in June.

Later Roles and Return to Coaching

After leaving Rayo Vallecano in 2016, Miñambres worked as a director of football for RC Celta de Vigo. On February 11, 2022, he moved to Levante UD to be their director of football.

He also had a brief period as an interim coach for Levante in October 2022. He stepped in to manage the team for two matches. In February 2024, he returned to coaching Levante for the rest of the season.

Playing for His Country: Spain

Felipe Miñambres played for the Spanish national team six times over four and a half years. He scored two goals for his country.

His first game for Spain was on December 13, 1989. It was a friendly match against Switzerland, which Spain won 2–1. Felipe scored one of the goals in that game.

He was also part of Spain's team for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. He played in matches against South Korea and Bolivia during the tournament.
