Stratocaster Copies and Quality
Because the Stratocaster is so popular, many other companies make guitars that look similar. These are called "strat copies." If a guitar looks like a Stratocaster but isn't made by Fender or Squier, it's a copy.

They are much better than most copies, which are often made in China. Squier, a brand owned by Fender, makes Strats in China and Indonesia.
Some Fender Strats made in Japan and Korea are very high quality. They can be similar to the "American Standard" models. Certain older Japanese models are quite valuable today.
