Ferdinando Imposimato (born April 9, 1936 – died January 2, 2018) was an important Italian judge and politician. He was known for his work in the legal system and later as a member of the Italian Parliament. He also served as the honorary president of Italy's highest court, the Supreme Court.

Early Life and Education
Ferdinando Imposimato was born in 1936 in Maddaloni, a town in Italy. He studied law at the University of Naples and graduated in 1959.
After finishing his studies, he started his career in law enforcement. He worked as a police vice-commissar in different Italian cities like Brescia and Forlì. Later, he worked in Rome for the Ministry of Treasury. In 1964, he became a magistrate, which is a type of judge.
Career as a Judge
As a prosecutor, Ferdinando Imposimato handled many important legal cases. He investigated major criminal events that were very significant in Italy. These cases included investigations into organized crime groups.
His work as a judge was very challenging. Due to threats related to his important investigations, he decided to leave his role as a judge in 1986. After this, he became a consultant for the United Nations. In this role, he worked on issues related to human rights, especially in South America.
Political Career
In 1987, Ferdinando Imposimato was elected to the Italian Senate. This is one of the two houses of the Italian Parliament, similar to a Senate in other countries. He was part of a group called the Independent Left.
He was re-elected in 1992, this time to the Italian Chamber of Deputies. This is the other house of the Italian Parliament. During his time in Parliament, he was a member of the Parliamentary Anti-Mafia Commission for three terms. This commission works to fight organized crime in Italy.
Views on Justice
Ferdinando Imposimato was a strong believer in justice. He thought that important cases should be thoroughly investigated. He suggested that some complex international cases should be handled by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court. This court deals with very serious crimes that affect many countries.
In 2015, he was chosen as a candidate for the Italian presidential election. He was nominated by the Five Star Movement after an online vote by their supporters. He received a significant number of votes.

Ferdinando Imposimato passed away on January 2, 2018, in Rome. He was 81 years old. He is remembered for his long career dedicated to justice and public service in Italy.
