Ferger Place Historic District is a special neighborhood in Chattanooga, Tennessee. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. This means it's an important place with a lot of history.
Ferger Place was started in 1910 by two wealthy brothers, J. Fred Ferger and J. Herman Ferger. They wanted to create a unique, private community. It was one of the first neighborhoods like this in the southern United States. They even built a fence around it to keep out grazing cattle!
This neighborhood quickly became popular with important families. Wealthy business people and government officials chose to live here. Ferger Place offered a safe and quiet place away from the busy city.
