Fergus Anckorn was born on December 10, 1918, in a place called Dunton Green. He went to school at The Judd School in Tonbridge. From a young age, Fergus loved magic. When he was just 18 years old, he joined The Magic Circle. This made him the youngest person ever to become a member of this special organization for magicians. He was known for his magic tricks as "Wizardus."
A Soldier in World War II
When World War II began, Fergus joined the British Army. He was sent to fight in Asia. During the fall of Singapore, he was captured by Japanese forces. He became a prisoner of war.
As a prisoner, he was forced to work on the famous Burma Railway. He also worked on the well-known bridge on the River Kwai. This was a very difficult and challenging time for him.
A Life of Magic and Memories
After the war, Fergus Anckorn returned home. He continued his passion for magic. He was a member of The Magic Circle for many, many years. In fact, he was the person who had been a member for the longest time.
He often shared his stories about his experiences during the war. Fergus Anckorn lived a long and full life. He passed away on March 22, 2018, at the age of 99.
