The Ferocactus peninsulae is a type of barrel cactus. It belongs to the Ferocactus group, which is part of the large Cactaceae family. This cactus is known for its unique shape and colorful flowers.

What Does It Look Like?

The Ferocactus peninsulae can grow quite tall, reaching up to about 70 centimeters (about 2.3 feet). It often looks like an oval or a club. This cactus has 12 to 20 noticeable, deep ridges, which are sometimes called "ribs."

Its thorns are grayish-red and usually have yellowish or whitish tips. When it blooms, you'll see funnel-shaped flowers that can be red or yellow. These flowers are about 5 to 6 centimeters (2 to 2.4 inches) long. After the flowers, the plant produces round, yellow fruits that can be up to 4.5 centimeters (1.8 inches) long.

Where Does It Grow?

This special cactus is found mostly in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. It grows naturally in this region, making it an important part of the local plant life.
