The men's field hockey tournament at the 2023 Pan American Games was a big event for men's field hockey teams from across the Americas. It was the 15th time this tournament was held as part of the Pan American Games. The games took place in Santiago, Chile, from October 25 to November 3, 2023.
Argentina, who had won the last three tournaments, took home their 11th gold medal! They beat the host country, Chile, 3–1 in the final match. This was a special moment for Chile, as it was their first time ever reaching the final. Canada won the bronze medal by defeating the United States 3–2. Because Argentina won, they automatically qualified to play in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.

How Teams Qualified
Eight teams earned their spot to play in the 2023 Pan American Games. As the host country, Chile automatically qualified. Other teams qualified by doing well in important regional tournaments. The top two teams from both the 2022 South American Games and the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games got to play. The remaining spots were decided by the 2022 Pan American Cup. Since Chile had already qualified as hosts, their spot from the South American Games was given to another team from the Pan American Cup, meaning four teams qualified from that tournament.

Preliminary Round
The teams were divided into two groups, Pool A and Pool B, to start the tournament. Each team played against the other teams in their pool. The top two teams from each pool moved on to the semi-finals, while the others played in classification matches to determine their final ranking.
