Filippos Petsalnikos (born December 1, 1950 – died March 13, 2020) was a Greek politician. He was a member of the Hellenic Parliament for many years. From 2009 to 2012, he held a very important job. He was the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament. This means he was in charge of leading the meetings in Greece's parliament.

Early Life and Education
Filippos Petsalnikos was born in Mavrochori, a town in Kastoria, Greece. He was interested in learning from a young age. He decided to study law. He went to universities in both Greece and Germany to get his education.
Political Journey
Filippos Petsalnikos had a long and active career in Greek politics. He was a member of the Hellenic Parliament for many years. He also held several important government jobs.
Becoming a Member of Parliament
In 1985, Filippos Petsalnikos was first elected as a Member of Parliament (MP). He represented the Panhellenic Socialist Movement, which is a political party in Greece. He continued to be an MP until 2012.
Serving as a Minister
Petsalnikos served in different government roles called 'Ministers'. These jobs are like being in charge of a specific part of the government.
- From 1996 to 1998, he was the Minister for Macedonia-Thrace. This role focused on the region of Macedonia and Thrace in Greece.
- From 1998 to 1999, he was the Minister of Public Order. This job was about keeping public safety and order. He later resigned from this position.
- From 2001 to 2004, he served as the Minister of Justice. In this role, he was responsible for legal matters and the justice system.
Speaker of Parliament
One of his most important roles was being the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament. He was elected to this position on October 15, 2009. As Speaker, he was responsible for leading the discussions and making sure the rules were followed in the Greek Parliament. He served as Speaker until 2012.
Later Political Activities
In 2015, Filippos Petsalnikos joined a new political party. This party was called the Movement of Democratic Socialists. He helped to start this new party with former Prime Minister George Papandreou.

Filippos Petsalnikos was married and had three children. He was a talented speaker and knew several languages. He spoke Greek, Macedonian, English, and German. His wife is also a lawyer. She has supported organizations that help German-speaking women in Greece.
