History of Fincastle
Fincastle was first planned out in 1835. This process, called "platting," is when someone draws up a map showing how land will be divided into lots for homes and businesses. The community was named after Fincastle, Virginia, a town in another state.
A post office opened in Fincastle in 1836. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1967.
