First Ladies of Disco is an American music group. It's a "supergroup," which means it's made up of famous singers. These singers were already well-known on their own. The group started in 2015. Its first members were Martha Wash, Linda Clifford, and Evelyn "Champagne" King.
The group was created by James Washington. He was Martha Wash's manager. The name "First Ladies of Disco" came from a book. The book was called First Ladies of Disco: 32 Stars Discuss the Era and Their Singing Careers. This book had interviews with the singers who later formed the group.
In March 2015, the First Ladies of Disco released their first song. It was called "Show Some Love." This song came out on Martha Wash's own record label, Purple Rose Records. A special version of the song, called a remix, became very popular. It reached number six on Billboard magazine's Dance chart. This means it was one of the top dance songs in the country!
Group Changes and Tours
In 2017, the group went on their first concert tour. It was called the "First Ladies of Disco Show." Later, in December 2017, Evelyn "Champagne" King left the group.
In February 2018, a new singer joined the group. She was Norma Jean Wright, a former singer from the famous band Chic. In March 2019, the group released their second song. It was called "Don't Stop Me Now."
