The flag of Brunei Darussalam is an important national symbol. It was officially created in 1958 and has been used ever since to represent the country.

What the Flag Looks Like

Brunei's flag has a bright yellow background. This yellow color often represents the Sultan, who is the ruler of Brunei.

Across the flag, you'll see two diagonal stripes. One stripe is black and the other is white. These stripes are placed at an angle, cutting across the yellow field. They represent the country's chief ministers, who are important government officials.

In the very center of the flag, there is a red symbol called the crest of Brunei. This crest is a special emblem that represents the government and the Sultan's power. It includes a flag, a royal umbrella, wings, hands, and a crescent moon with an Arabic inscription. The inscription means "Always in service with God's guidance."
