The Flag of Luxembourg is the national flag of the country of Luxembourg. It has three horizontal stripes. These stripes are red, white, and blue. The flag can have different shapes, either 1:2 or 3:5. This means it can be twice as long as it is tall, or five units long for every three units tall.
A Look at the Flag's History
The flag was first used a long time ago, between 1845 and 1848. It became the official flag on June 23, 1972. This means it was formally recognized by the government.
What Do the Colors Mean?
The colors of the Luxembourg flag are red, white, and blue. These colors are similar to the flag of the Netherlands. However, the blue on the Luxembourg flag is a lighter shade. This helps tell the two flags apart.
