Fleming is a small, quiet place in Indiana, United States. It's known as an "unincorporated community," which means it's a group of homes and maybe a few businesses that aren't officially a town or city with their own local government. Instead, it's part of a larger area called Redding Township in Jackson County.
A Look Back at Fleming's History
Fleming began to grow because of the railroad. When train tracks were built through this area, it helped the community develop.
For a while, Fleming even had its own post office. This post office opened in 1892, which was a long time ago! It helped people send and receive letters and packages. However, it didn't stay open forever. The post office closed its doors in 1904.
This short history shows how important things like railroads and post offices were for small communities like Fleming in the past.
