Flores Sea facts for kids
The Flores Sea is a large area of water located in Indonesia. It's like a big watery neighbor to many islands. This sea covers a huge space, about 93,000 square miles (which is 240,000 square kilometres). That's bigger than many countries!
Where is the Flores Sea?
The Flores Sea is surrounded by several other seas and islands. To its west, you'll find the Bali Sea. If you look to the northwest, you'll see the Java Sea. To the east and northeast, it borders the Banda Sea.
Islands Around the Sea
To the south of the Flores Sea, you'll find the Indian Ocean and the Savu Sea. These are separated from the Flores Sea by a group of islands called the Lesser Sunda Islands. Another important island bordering this sea is Sulawesi, which used to be known as Celebes.
