The Florida Strawberry Festival is a super fun annual event held in Plant City, Florida. It lasts for 11 days and attracts about half a million visitors from all over Central Florida and beyond! People think it's one of the best festivals in Florida. It's even ranked among the Top 40 Fairs in all of North America.
At the festival, you can find lots of cool things to do. There are many stalls selling crafts and items, like a giant flea market. You can also enjoy free shows and events. Plus, there's a huge area with rides and games called the "midway." Every day, famous musicians perform concerts, sometimes twice a day!
Festival History: How It Started
The idea for the strawberry festival came from the Plant City Lions Club in 1930. Locals had tried for a while to show off their amazing strawberry crops. The very first Florida Strawberry Festival happened that same year.
The festival took place every year for 11 years. But then, World War II started, and the festival had to stop from 1941 to 1947. After the war, a group called the American Legion, Post #26, helped bring the festival back to life in 1948. Since then, it has been a yearly tradition!
