Flowella, also known as "La Parrita," is a small community in Brooks County, Texas, United States. It's called a census-designated place (CDP) because it's a special area set up for counting people. In 2020, about 117 people lived there.
Where is Flowella?
Flowella is located in northeastern Brooks County, Texas. You can find it near where State Highway 285 and FM 2191 meet. It's about 5 miles (8 kilometers) east of Falfurrias, which is the main town in Brooks County.
According to the United States Census Bureau, Flowella covers an area of 2.6 square kilometers (about 1 square mile). All of this area is land, with no water.
Flowella's History
Flowella was started in 1909 by two people named Burton and Danforth. They planned the community around a special "flowing well," which is a well where water comes up naturally.
A post office opened in Flowella in 1910 and stayed open for 13 years. By 1914, about 60 people lived in the community. There was also a hotel and a general store.
Over time, the nearby town of Falfurrias grew much larger. This meant Flowella stayed a small, spread-out community. Today, it's still a quiet, rural area.
