What You Will Find
Near the bay, you can find the island's only primary school. There is also a church for the community. If you want to visit and stay, the Flowerpot Bay Lodge is the only place for tourists. It offers a place to rest and enjoy the island.
Home to Special Birds
Flowerpot Bay is a very important place for wildlife. It has been named an Important Bird Area by BirdLife International. This means it is a key spot for birds.
Protecting the Pitt Shag
The bay is home to a breeding colony of Pitt shags. These birds are a type of cormorant. They are an endangered species. This means there are not many of them left in the world. In 1998, experts counted 75 nests of these special birds here. Protecting places like Flowerpot Bay helps these birds survive.
