Flying Jumbos is a super fun ride at Chessington World of Adventures Resort in London. It's a type of ride called a Red Baron, where you get to fly around in a circle. This ride used to be in an area called Toytown. Later, it moved to the Zufari area. In 2020, it got a new name: Elmer's Flying Jumbos!

History of the Flying Elephants

The Flying Jumbos ride first opened way back in 1987. It was built by a company called Preston & Barbieri. When it first started, the elephant-shaped cars were pink. Now, they are grey.

In 2012, Chessington World of Adventures changed the Toytown area. They wanted the park to feel more like "Britain's Wildest Adventure." So, many of the gentle rides, like Flying Jumbos, moved to other parts of the park. In 2013, Flying Jumbos found its new home in the Zufari area.

In January 2020, something exciting happened! Chessington World of Adventures teamed up with Elmer, the famous colorful elephant from children's books. Because of this partnership, the ride was renamed Elmer's Flying Jumbos.

What the Ride is Like

On Elmer's Flying Jumbos, you sit inside cool fibreglass elephants. The elephants spin around like a merry-go-round. The best part is you can make your elephant fly up or down! Just hold down a button to make it go higher, or let go to lower it.

To ride, you need to be at least 1.1 meters tall. If you are shorter than that, an adult must ride with you.
