The Font Roja Natural Park (also known as Valencian: Parc Natural del Carrascar de la Font Roja or Spanish: Parque Natural del Carrascal de la Fuente Roja) is a special protected area in Spain. It is located near the city of Alcoy in the Valencian Community. This park is known for its beautiful nature and important plants and animals.
Discovering Font Roja Natural Park
The Font Roja Natural Park was officially created on April 13, 1987. The government of the Valencian Community, called the Generalitat Valenciana, declared it a protected area. You can find this park in the Alcoià region, in the northern part of the province of Alicante. It is situated between the towns of Alcoy and Ibi. This natural park is one of the best-preserved natural areas in the entire Valencian Community.
Park Size and Mountains
The protected area covers about 2,298 hectares. This large space includes several mountain ranges. These are El Alto de San Antonio (L'Alt de Sant Antoni), El Carrascar of the Font Roja (El Carrascar de la Font Roja), and La Teixereta. The highest point in the park is the summit of the Sierra del Menejador. It stands tall at 1,356 meters (about 4,449 feet) above sea level.
