Forbes Taylor Kennedy, born on August 18, 1935, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played many games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for five different teams. His career in the NHL lasted from 1956 to 1969. During his time as a player, he scored 70 goals and made 108 assists. He was also known for spending a lot of time in the penalty box. In the 1968–69 season, he had the most penalty minutes in the entire NHL. After he stopped playing, Forbes Kennedy became a coach for several years.

Forbes Kennedy's Hockey Journey
Forbes Kennedy was born in Dorchester, New Brunswick, Canada. He grew up on Prince Edward Island. Even though he was not a very big player, he often received the most penalties during games. This showed his tough and competitive style of play.
Playing in the NHL and Beyond
Forbes Kennedy played for several teams during his career. He was part of the Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He also played for teams in other leagues, like the Western Hockey League (WHL). One of these teams was the San Francisco Seals. This team later moved and became the California Seals.
A memorable game for Forbes happened during the 1969 Stanley Cup playoffs. His teammate, Pat Quinn, made a big hit on Bobby Orr, a star player for the Boston Bruins. After this, Forbes Kennedy got involved in several disagreements on the ice. He also had a problem with a game official and was removed from the game. This led to him being suspended for a long time. His time with the Toronto Maple Leafs ended after this incident.
Life After Playing Hockey
After his playing career, Forbes Kennedy started coaching. He coached the Cape Breton Metros in 1969–70. Then he coached the Halifax Junior Canadians in 1970–71. He also coached the Summerside Crystals in Prince Edward Island for two seasons.
Later, he tried to play hockey again with the Los Angeles Sharks. But injuries stopped him from returning to the ice as a player. So, he went back to coaching. He coached the Winston-Salem Polar Twins. After a few years, Forbes Kennedy returned home to Prince Edward Island. He coached junior hockey teams there for many years.
Honors and Recognition
On January 16, 2012, Forbes Kennedy was honored by the Summerside Western Capitals. This team plays in the Maritime Junior Hockey League. They held a "Forbes Kennedy Night" to celebrate him. He received a special plaque for his service to the team. He had coached the Western Capitals from 2004 to 2007.
On November 24, 2019, Forbes Kennedy took part in a special event. He joined Mark Shapiro, the Music Director of the Prince Edward Island Symphony Orchestra (PEISO). Together, they led the orchestra and the audience in singing "O Canada." This happened at the Homburg Theatre in Charlottetown, PEI.
