Foresman is a small, quiet place in Newton County, Indiana. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and buildings that doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. It's part of Iroquois Township.
History of Foresman
Foresman began its story in 1882. A man named John B. Foresman decided to create a new settlement there. He planned out the area, and the community was named after him.
A year later, in 1883, a post office was opened in Foresman. This was a big deal because it meant people living there could easily send and receive mail. The post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in 1934. After that, residents likely got their mail from a nearby town.
