Story of Forest Warrior
The movie begins with a campfire story. Clovis Madison (Roscoe Lee Browne) tells children about a man named Jebediah McKenna (Chuck Norris). McKenna was said to have been killed a long time ago in the Tanglewood forest while fighting bad guys. The story says he was magically brought back to life. He gained the special power to change into a bear, a wolf, or an eagle.
Inspired by this tale, the children form a group called the Lords of the Tanglewood. They make a promise to protect the forest. Their pledge is: "We ask you to leave it pure as found; For we are to it forever bound."
Protecting Tanglewood Forest
In the present day, the Tanglewood forest is in danger. A large company, led by Travis Thorne (Terry Kiser), wants to cut down its trees. Most people in the small town do not want this to happen. The children, who often camp in their treehouse in the woods, are also against it.
During one of their trips, some loggers try to bully the kids. But McKenna, the legendary shapeshifter, appears and easily defeats the loggers. He is also a master of Native American martial arts. The loggers tell Thorne what happened. Thorne then orders the treehouse to be destroyed.
Magic and Rescue in the Forest
While the children are away, the loggers place a bomb in the treehouse. They do not know that Austene Slaighter (Megan Paul), the leader of the Tanglewood Lords, is still inside. McKenna once again beats up the loggers. Then, he uses the forest's magic to bring Austene back to life, just as he was.
Austene is reunited with her father, Arlen (Michael Beck). Meanwhile, Thorne gets permission to continue cutting down trees. The Lords of the Tanglewood decide to fight back. They set up many harmless traps to prank the loggers. This slows down Thorne's efforts to chop down the forest. They also play loud rock music, which makes the loggers dance around.
Finally, McKenna shows himself to Thorne. He scares Thorne by turning into a bear. The terrified villain agrees to stop cutting down the trees. He also confesses all his wrongdoings to the authorities. With their forest safe, the townspeople rebuild the kids' treehouse. Austene sees McKenna's spirit join with that of his Native American wife.
