The Fountain Hill Opera House was once a famous theater building. It was located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, in Northampton County, Pennsylvania. People also knew it by other names, like the Globe Theatre and the Grand Opera House. This historic building was built a long time ago, in 1888. Sadly, it is no longer standing today.
A Historic Building's Story
The Fountain Hill Opera House was an important part of Bethlehem's history. It was recognized for its special value. Because of this, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 7, 1979. This list helps protect important places in the United States.
The End of an Era
Unfortunately, the story of the Fountain Hill Opera House had a sad ending. On August 13, 1983, the building was destroyed by a big fire. After the fire, the building was taken down. Because it was no longer there, it was removed from the National Register of Historic Places on August 11, 1987. Even though it's gone, its memory lives on as a part of Bethlehem's past.
