The Church's Design and Additions
The main part of the church has a special entrance area called a portico. This portico is supported by two large columns. These columns are in the Doric style, which is a classic Greek design.
In 1964, a Sunday School building was added to the church. This addition was designed by Ethel Bailey Furman. She was a very important architect. Ethel Bailey Furman was the first Black woman to work as an architect in the state of Virginia. Her work helped shape the church as we see it today.
