History of Fouts Springs

Fouts Springs got its name from a man named John F. Fouts. He found these natural springs in 1873. Soon after, people realized how nice the area was.

The Resort Era

In the early 1900s, Fouts Springs became a busy resort. It was a place where many people could come and relax. The resort could host up to 150 guests at one time.

People even started bottling the water from Fouts Springs. By 1909, this spring water was being sold as drinking water.

Post Office Changes

The community of Fouts Springs had a post office that opened and closed several times. It first opened in 1882. Then it closed in 1913.

It reopened in 1945, but closed again in 1947. The post office opened one more time in 1950. Finally, it closed for good in 1956.
