Exploring the Fox Theatre Historic District

The Amazing Fox Theatre
The Fox Theatre was built in 1929. It was designed by Oliver Vinour and other architects. This theatre is known for its unique Moorish Revival style. It looks like a grand palace from a faraway land. The Fox Theatre is a popular spot for concerts and shows today.
The Grand Georgian Terrace Hotel
The Georgian Terrace Hotel opened in 1911. It was designed by William Lee Stoddart. This hotel is famous for hosting the gala ball in 1939. This event celebrated the premiere of the movie Gone with the Wind. The hotel has a beautiful Beaux-Arts style design.
The Ponce de Leon Apartments
Also designed by William Lee Stoddart, the Ponce de Leon Apartments were built in 1913. These apartments show off an Italianate style. Sometimes, people also describe them as Beaux-Arts style or Renaissance Revival. They are a great example of early 20th-century apartment living.
The Cox-Carlton Hotel
The Cox-Carlton Hotel was built in 1925. It was designed by the architects Pringle and Smith. This building was originally a hotel for single men. Today, it is part of the Hotel Indigo chain. It adds to the historic charm of the district.
