A Look Back: The Hotel's Story
From Apartments to Hotel
This building started its life in 1925. It was designed by the same architects, Pringle and Smith. Back then, it was known as the Carlton Bachelor Apartments. It was a special place where single men could live.
Over time, the building changed its name. It became known as the Cox-Carlton Hotel. Later, it was even a Days Inn hotel for a while.
A New Beginning
In October 2004, the building got a big makeover! After a lot of work, it reopened with a new name: the Hotel Indigo Atlanta Midtown. It's now a modern and stylish place to stay.
A Historic Landmark
Because of its history and unique design, the building was added to a special list. On November 1, 2006, it became part of the National Register of Historic Places. This list includes important buildings across the country.
The hotel is also very close to the famous Fox Theatre. It's considered a key part of the Fox Theatre Historic District. This means it helps make that area a special historical place.
