Francesco Mancini (born October 10, 1968 – died March 30, 2012) was a famous Italian football goalkeeper. He later became a coach. He is most remembered for playing with the Foggia team in the 1990s.

Francesco Mancini's Football Journey
Starting His Career
Francesco Mancini began his football journey in 1985. He started with his hometown club, Matera. Later, in 1987, he played for Bisceglie.
Playing for Foggia
In 1987, Mancini joined Foggia. He stayed with this club for ten years. He helped Foggia get promoted to Serie A, which is Italy's top football league. This happened under the coach Zdeněk Zeman. They even won the 1990–91 Serie B title, which is the championship for the second-highest league.
In the 1995–96 season, he played two games for Foggia in Serie B. He then went to S.S. Lazio on loan in November 1995. Being "on loan" means a player temporarily plays for another team.
He came back to Foggia in the summer of 1996. He played another season in Serie B with the club.
Time with Bari
In the summer of 1997, Mancini moved to A.S. Bari. This team was in Serie A. He played 95 games for Bari over three seasons in Italy's top league.
Playing for Napoli
In October 2000, he joined S.S.C. Napoli. This team was also in Serie A. He took the place of a younger goalkeeper, Ferdinando Coppola.
In January 2001, he lost his starting spot to a new player, Alberto Fontana. However, he became the main goalkeeper again after Napoli moved down to Serie B. Even at 35 years old, he played 27 games in the 2002–03 season.

In July 2010, he became the goalkeeping coach for his old club, Foggia. He worked with his former mentor, Zdeněk Zeman. In July 2011, he followed Zeman to Pescara, a team in Serie B.
Francesco Mancini's Passing
On March 30, 2012, Francesco Mancini passed away. He was 43 years old. He was found at his home in Pescara after having a sudden heart attack.
