The village of Francis Creek got its name from a nearby stream also called Francis Creek. The first post office in the area opened in 1850. This was a big step for the community back then.

French Creek Days Festival
Another big event is French Creek Days, held on the second weekend in July. This festival is one of the largest in the area. People from many nearby towns come to enjoy the fun. A main attraction is the tractor and truck pulls, where powerful vehicles show off their strength.
