Francis Leonard Kellogg (January 5, 1917 – April 6, 2006) was an American diplomat. A diplomat is someone who helps countries talk to each other. He worked as a special assistant to the Secretary of State during the Nixon and Ford presidencies. The Secretary of State is a top government official who handles foreign affairs. Francis Kellogg was also a well-known person in New York City society.

Early Life and Education
Francis Leonard Kellogg was born in Manhattan, New York City, on January 5, 1917. His parents were Frank Leonard Kellogg and Emily Baker. His father was a business executive. Francis was not related to the famous Kellogg cereal family.
He went to the Choate School and then to Princeton University. After college, he served in the United States Army during World War II.
Working for the U.S. Government
After the war, Francis Kellogg began a career in government. He became a Special Assistant to two different Secretaries of State. These were William P. Rogers and Henry Kissinger. In this role, he helped them with important international matters. He also worked for the Central Intelligence Agency, which gathers information for the U.S. government.
Family Life
Francis Kellogg was married twice. His first wife was Fernanda Wanamaker Munn. They married in 1942. Fernanda was the great-granddaughter of a famous store owner, John Wanamaker. They had two children together: Fernanda Kellogg Henckels and Christopher Gage Kellogg.
Later, they divorced in 1971. Francis then married Mercedes Tavacoli in 1971. They were married until 1988.
Later Years
Francis L. Kellogg passed away on April 6, 2006. He was 89 years old. He died in New York City, where he had lived for many years.
