Francisco Antonio Vallejo facts for kids
Francisco Antonio Vallejo (born in 1722, died in 1785) was a talented Mexican muralist. A muralist is an artist who paints large pictures directly onto walls. Vallejo worked as an artist for more than 30 years.
His most famous artworks can be found in several important places. These include the La Enseñanza Church in Mexico City, the chapel sacristy of the School of Saint Ildefonso, and a special series of paintings called Life of Saint Elías in the Convent of Carmen in Saint Luis Potosí.
Vallejo's art is part of the final period of the Mexican Baroque style. This was a time when art was very dramatic and decorative. He used strong emotions in his paintings.
