Frank Elijah Sagendorph, 2nd (born March 28, 1883 – died May 5, 1972) was an important businessman from Philadelphia. He was the president of a company called Penn Metal Corporation of Pennsylvania, also known as Penco. This company made things out of metal.

Frank Sagendorph's Journey
Frank Elijah Sagendorph, 2nd, was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. When he was six years old in 1889, his family moved to Philadelphia. He was the second son of L. Lewis Sagendorph and Catherine Crainor.
Starting His Career
Frank went to public schools in Philadelphia. He then graduated from Peirce Business College in Philadelphia. In 1901, he started working at the Penn Metal Corporation of Pennsylvania. This company made things from sheet metal.
His father, L. Lewis Sagendorph, started this company in 1869. It was first in Staunton, Virginia. The company moved to Cincinnati in 1879, and then to Philadelphia in 1889.
Moving Up in the Company
Frank started as an apprentice, learning the business. In 1903, he became an engineer and draftsman. This meant he designed things and drew plans. From 1905 to 1907, he worked as a junior executive.
His father passed away in 1909. After that, Frank's older brother, George Adam Sagendorph, became the company president. In 1912, Frank became the vice-president.
Becoming President
In 1933, Frank became the president of Penn Metal Corporation. He and his brother, George, decided to divide the company. Frank also became a director of Penn Metal in 1919. He stayed in this role until he retired in the late 1960s. His son, Frank E. Sagendorph 3rd, then took over the company.
Other Activities
Frank E. Sagendorph, 2nd, was also involved in other businesses. From 1907 to 1912, he was a general manager and vice-president. This was for his wife's family company, the J. Milton Hagy Waste Works.
He was very interested in business, community, and politics. He joined many groups throughout his life. He was a member of the National Association of Manufacturers. He also belonged to the Propeller Club of the United States. Frank was part of the Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade, Philadelphia. He was also a member of the Franklin Institute and the American Iron and Steel Institute.
In politics, Frank was a Republican. He was also a member of the Protestant Episcopal Church of St. John the Evangelist. This church was in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania.
Family Life
Frank E. Sagendorph, 2nd, married Elizabeth Hagy on October 3, 1905. Their wedding was in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. They had three children together. Their children were William L Sagendorph, Frank E. Sagendorph 3rd, and Suzanne Sagendorph Welsh.
Later Years
Frank E. Sagendorph, 2nd, passed away on May 5, 1972. He was buried at Arlington Cemetery in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania.
