Frank R. Strozier Jr. (born June 13, 1937) is a talented American jazz musician. He is best known for playing the alto saxophone. Sometimes, he also plays the flute.

Frank Strozier's Early Life and Music
Frank Strozier was born in Memphis, Tennessee. This is where he first learned to play the piano. In 1954, he moved to a big city called Chicago.
In Chicago, Frank played music with other great musicians. Some of his friends were Harold Mabern, George Coleman, and Booker Little. They were all from Memphis, just like Frank!
He recorded music with a group called MJT + 3. This was between 1959 and 1960. He also led his own recording sessions for a record company called Vee-Jay Records.
Frank Strozier's Musical Journey
After his time in Chicago, Frank moved to New York City. For a short time in 1963, he played with the famous Miles Davis Quintet. He also performed with another well-known musician, Roy Haynes.
Later, Frank moved to Los Angeles. There, he worked with artists like Chet Baker and Shelly Manne. He also played in the big band led by Don Ellis.
In 1971, Frank returned to New York. He continued to play with many different groups. These included Keno Duke's Jazz Contemporaries and the New York Jazz Repertory Company. He also played with Horace Parlan and Woody Shaw.
