Frankenbury Camp is an ancient site in Hampshire, England. It's a special kind of old fort called an Iron Age hillfort. People lived here a very long time ago, during the Iron Age. This fort is built on a small hill that looks over the Avon Valley. It's located on the edge of the New Forest. The whole fort covers about 11 acres, which is like 11 football fields!
The fort was naturally protected on its west and south sides because the slopes were very steep. On the northeast sides, people built a simple rampart (a defensive wall of earth) and a ditch. The main entrance, which was on the southeast side, has been made wider over time. Frankenbury Camp is recognized as a special historical place. It is called a scheduled ancient monument. Today, most of the site is used for farming, but the old earthworks are covered with trees.

Amazing Discoveries at Frankenbury Camp
Archaeologists have found many interesting items around Frankenbury Camp. These discoveries help us learn about the people who lived here long ago. The items include pottery and coins from both the Iron Age and Roman times.
Iron Age and Roman Pottery
Pottery pieces have been found in several spots nearby. These pieces of broken pots tell us about daily life. They show how people cooked, stored food, and ate.

Iron Age Coins
One special find was an Iron Age coin. This coin is called a Durotrigian Silver Stater. It was found in 1969 in a garden near Tinker's Cross. Coins like this show that people traded goods and had a system of money.
Roman Coins
Roman coins have also been discovered in the area. These coins show that Romans were present or traded here. One coin found in 1930 was from the time of Emperor Constantine, who ruled from 306 to 337 A.D.

Where is Frankenbury Camp Located?
Frankenbury Camp is found in the county of Hampshire. It sits between two villages: Godshill and Fordingbridge. Just to the south of the camp is the Sandy Balls estate. The highest point of the hill where the fort is built is about 70 meters (230 feet) above sea level.
