Frankie Gómez, whose real name is Jesús Francisco Gómez, is an American former professional boxer. He was born on February 4, 1992. In 2010, Frankie joined Golden Boy Promotions, a company owned by famous boxer Oscar De La Hoya. He was trained by Freddie Roach, who won the "Trainer of the Year" award five times.

Frankie Gómez's Amateur Boxing Career
Frankie Gómez started boxing when he was just 8 years old. He had an amazing amateur record, winning 120 fights and only losing 8.
Winning Championships
In 2007, he won the Junior Olympic National Championship. He also earned a gold medal at the Cadet World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. The next year, in 2008, Gómez won the U-17 Cadet World Championships. He competed in the Light Welterweight division.
In 2009, at age 17, he became the U.S.A. Amateur National Champion. He beat José Benavidez, who was a winner of the National Golden Gloves. Later that year, at the 2009 World Amateur Boxing Championships, Frankie won a silver medal. He lost to Olympic bronze medalist Roniel Iglesias in the final match.

When Frankie Gómez decided to become a professional boxer, many people thought he was one of America's best amateur boxers. Oscar De La Hoya, a boxing legend, was very impressed. He said that Gómez had all the skills to become a world champion.
Early Professional Fights
Frankie won his first professional fight against Clayvonne Howard. He won by TKO (Technical Knockout) in the third round. His third TKO victory was against Akeem Akinbode. This fight was shown on FSN's Fight Night Club.
Later, Frankie started training with Abel Sanchez. In his first fight with Sanchez as his trainer, Gómez quickly won. He beat veteran boxer Jason Davis by knockout in the first round. In July 2011, Gómez won another fight against Khadaphi Proctor. This match was shown on TeleFutura.
Training with Freddie Roach
In 2012, Frankie Gómez began training with the famous boxing coach Freddie Roach. After several more wins, Gómez faced his toughest opponent yet. This was veteran boxer Mauricio Herrera. Their fight took place in May 2016. It was part of the big boxing event featuring Canelo Álvarez vs. Amir Khan. Gómez performed very well, winning all 10 rounds on every judge's scorecard.
